Modified Bitumen (MB) is an asphalt-based low slope roof system with polymers added to the bitumen to alter some of its properties for greater stability and flexibility in a wider range of temperatures. The two most common chemical agents used to modify the asphalt are APP (Atactic Polypropylene) and SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene). Considered one of the most popular low slope roof applications in North America, MB roof systems can be installed by heat-welding, hot-asphalt, and cold-process adhesive.
EPDM low slope roof system is made from a synthetic rubber compound designed for superior durability and longevity in harsh weather conditions. EPDM, commonly know as ‘rubber roof’ is one of the most popular low slope roof system options available due to their high quality weather resistance and low cost. EPDM membranes are available in a variety of thicknesses and widths up to 50ft meaning fewer seams which reduces the opportunity for leak problems.
TPO low slope roof system is a single-ply rubber membrane composed of synthetic components along with a fabric reinforcing scrim that stabilizes and strengthens the membrane for superior performance. A TPO membrane delivers the advantages of an EPDM roof system in strength and durability paired with the exceptional performance of heat welded seams. TPO’s white reflective surface helps deflect ultraviolet waves (UV) with a certified cooling effect. TPO is becoming the most popular choice for flat roof applications today.
